Flying Pigs Now accepts #6 Styrofoam

We only accept clean white packing foam! This would be the styrofoam that most of your appliances or electronics come packed in.

*We do not accept meat trays, foam egg cartons or packing peanuts. This is because these lighter types of styrofoam are not dense enough to bale and then transport. The next issue is the food residue on the meat trays which is why they are not accepted. Lastly, at this time the market only demands white (EPS) packing foam.

Polystyrene is one of the most widely used plastics, the scale being several billion kilograms per year.

Polystyrene can be recycled, and has the number "6" as its recycling symbol. The increasing oil prices have increased the value of polystyrene for recycling. No known microorganism has yet been shown to biodegrade polystyrene, and it is often abundant as a form of pollution in the outdoor environment, particularly along shores and waterways especially in its low density cellular form.
